Day 6: Free Day!

Our work days are rewarding but long and demanding, so after every two or three days in the village we like to provide some R&R for our mission team. Wednesday was another Rest day. It started out with another of Brenda's "Just Cereal" breakfasts, so people could arrive to eat whenever they wanted.  By now you know how the "Just Cereal" thing goes: it also includes coffee, tea, loads of fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, and in this case, several large pans of homemade cinnamon rolls hot from the oven!

I was the last one to breakfast because I spent the morning editing photos and working on the blog. Most of the rest of the team had gone to downtown San Carlos for shopping. It's quite picturesque, but I have no photos off the shopping jaunt. Hopefully, if someone you know and love is on the team, they'll show you photos and tell you stories.

I checked the progress of the construction crew...

...and saw Anna and daughter Rosie making quite a haul, after harvesting from the orange tree:

They're every bit as delicious as they look!!

In the afternoon. We piled in a large van and headed for the beach. We had hoped to eat lunch at the same place we ate Sunday, but it was closed for spring cleaning. There was only one restaurant opened, Bonifacio's. It was a little more upscale than we wanted, but by the time we got there it was almost 2 pm, and we were too hungry to go driving around town to find another place.

The young and adventuresome chose to eat outdoors, where they could experience the sun, wind, and the view...

And a few old fogeys chose the elegant interior.

But we all got to enjoy watching the outdoor adventurers:

It was quite the leisurely lunch, because there was only one waiter in the restaurant. So we got back "home" just in time to make a quick change and pile back into the vans for a team evening out at Leigh and Jerry Andersons' lovely home. Leigh and Jerry are originally from the U.S., but they have lived in San Carlos for almost 20 years.

I took a couple shots of the hors d'oeuvres spread, and didn't realize until I looked at the photos later that I also captured Leigh and Curt greeting each other in the background. What fun shots!!!

We had such a relaxing time, soaking in the view, and topped of with a grand tour of,their 8000-square-foot home.

Once back at Casa Esperanza, we all hit the sack early...we agreed that the days of rest take a lot of energy!
