Our various classes are held all over town, but since Lubec is a little town, almost everything is within walking distance. My classes today were all held in one of two big churches up at the top of the hill. This is what the hurricane did to the Congregational Church. One of its historic stained glass windows was broken. But looking at the size of the tree, it's a miracle that more damage was not done!
I was working so hard on my music that I didn't take many photos...and there's not much to tell you except that I played mandolin for hours...so here's Curt to tell you a little about his day.
Howdy Y'all! Greetings from Lubec. What a beautiful place to explore. First was the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, and a great hike past some amazing overlooks down at the sea below. The tide was out, so the sea level was 22 feet lower.
Then, I drove towards the bridge to the Canadian island called Campabello ( of FD Roosevelt fame), stopped at the worlds best Chilli Hot Dog stand, and took this next picture on the way.
At the end of the East Quoddy Head was another neat lighthouse that you have to wade to, at low tide. The tide rises 5 feet and hour, so your timing had best be good! If you're not careful about watching the tides, you can be stuck out on the island for 8 hours until the next low tide!
Karen has a long day of Mandolining tomorrow, whilst I have a 5 mile hike out to a nice sand beach and a peat bog planned. Then a fresh lobster dinner. God is good!!
