The Real Good-Byes are Starting

Yesterday I participated in my last church service as Assistant Music Director at Kerrville First United Methodist Church. It was a lovely service. Don McAvoy and I shared the music and liturgy, all centered around Communion. Ray Altman preached a stirring sermon...which we will remember all along our entire trip. It was a beautiful "last Sunday"....at least the last one for now. I can't say how much I'll miss this wonderful church, which has been my place of worship, work, teaching, learning and fellowship for almost 6 years...but I know Curt and I will be back after our wanderings are over...or between wanderings!
After church Curt and I headed out to the Big Springs Ranch for Children, where we have been volunteer Grandparents for the last 2-1/2 years. We finished cleaning the beautiful limestone house overlooking the Frio River, and packed the last of the little stuff in the car and truck. (Why does it take almost as long to deal with all the little stuff as it does to move the furniture and boxes???)  We said our official farewells to the children and staff earlier, so this time we just slipped quietly off the Ranch. We'll return in the future to see how everyone is doing, and to do a little volunteer work here and there.

We pulled out of the driveway with the truck and pop-up Jayco tent camper packed to the max. With a little more selective culling, we think we're going to have room for everything!
Now we will be staying at our cute little rented cottage in Kerrville for the next few days, as we pack up the last of our things and finalize our arrangements. At this time, we think we'll be able to hit the road next Sunday or Monday, June 8th or 9th. We'll see how this last phase of packing goes.

Believe me, You don't want to see a photo of the cottage right now, with all the packing frenzy going on...but I'd love to show you the roses in the back yard!
